What Software Quality Engineering contributes to CareFusion:


 
Designs tests, develops and maintains test plans and test cases. Conducts all forms of testing across a diverse suite of hardware/software products, assuring the highest quality products are developed.


 
What is expected of you for success in your role:


 
• Applies comprehensive knowledge of hardware/software quality concepts within the software development lifecycle

• May demonstrate level of knowledge by industry certification in quality engineering

• Comprehensive knowledge in design and development processes, including  knowledge of software and hardware engineering and analysis (design reviews), as well as test processes and methods

• Able to pull reports (queries), interpret trends and make recommendations for improvement to existing tools

• Participate in research, selection, and implementation of new tools

• Train and mentor users on tools used

• In depth understanding of a single application domain encompassing entire system

• Mentor others to ensure understanding with other SQE engineers

• Uses comprehensive expertise to improve and streamline quality or development process

• Represents Quality organization on cross-functional product development Core Team(s)

• Leads execution of complex test cases/scripts and interprets/analyzes results to report, communicate, and work through issues with R & D engineers

• Interprets product design and requirements to engineer test approach and generates test plans and test cases/scripts

• Considered expert in critical areas of the system and influences project test solutions

• Leads test efforts and may coordinate the efforts of other SQE engineers

• Develops test harnesses and conducts white box testing

• Able to apply experience in test engineering practices to low-level design verification

• Able to use programming and scripting tools (C#, Perl, Python, etc.) in order to automate low-level, white box tests

• Able to lead execution of complex test cases/scripts and interprets/analyzes results to report, communicate, and work through issues with team members.

• Can apply comprehensive understanding of the inter-workings of the application code under test

• Participates in and conducts code and product design reviews

• Proactively develops and maintains technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices;

 
Accountabilities in this role:

 • Plans, develops, executes and documents test methods to verify software, hardware and system products.

• Independently configures and installs hardware and software systems for test

• Works closely with development teams throughout the product SDLC

• Plans and uses automation test methods to verify client/server software

• Reports directly to a manager

• Under the direction of Quality Management coordinates with CareFusion Core team and suppliers/vendors on testing activities, issues and documentation/records supporting project business needs.  

 
Qualifications:

 • Bachelor's degree in related technical field required

• A minimum of 4+ years related work experience required

• Strong hardware and software testing background. Also have strong test processes and methods background.

• Solid understanding of V & V.

• Experience working with medical devices and product launches is a plus.

• Experience working in FDA medical device environment.

• Knowledge to set-up and to maintain a test lab.

• Ability to train and coach others from technical expertise

• Experienced using Quality Assurance methodologies (CSQE, CQA certified preferred)

• Client-Server (non-UI) software backend test plan and execution experience required

• Experience independently installing, configuring and testing Microsoft Windows server and application software required

• Experience testing relational database (SQL Server) applications required

• Knowledge of XML, SOAP, Web Service technologies required

• Skilled in testing and test planning for web-services architecture (SOA)

• Ability to independently setup client/server/network test lab environments including configuring hardware, trouble-shooting - switches, routers, hubs, server settings, etc.

• Excellent communications skills in both French and English, with the ability to work independently
